Recently, Sidakdeep Singh Chahal, a 15-year-old teen from Uttar Pradesh, bagged a remarkable feat by securing a Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a male teenager. According to reports, he has never cut his hair and they are an astounding 4 feet and 9.5 inches in length.
Reports suggest that Chahal maintains his long hair by washing it twice a week. He devotes a minimum of one hour on each occasion to washing, drying and brushing his hair. Meanwhile, a video of his long hair is going viral on social media. In the clip, Sidakdeep Singh Chahal shared his whole experience of having long hair, how he maintains it and how he felt after winning the Guinness World Record for the longest hair.
In the video, he also shared how, in his childhood, he was bullied and harassed by other children for having long hair as a youngster. So he used to ask his parents to chop it off. However, as he grew older, Chahal began to accept his long hair and understood that it was a part of who he was. Now, he hopes to keep them this way.
In the beginning of the video, Chahal introduced himself and displayed his long hair, there were also brief shots of his mother washing and drying his hair. He further shared that numerous others now praise his long, thick, hair and voiced the desire to have hair similar to his.

In a recent media interaction, Chahal said that due to religious beliefs, his parents never cut his hair and he too follows them now. “I practice Sikhism and we are forbidden from cutting our hair,” he added. One of the fundamental principles of Sikhism is that hair should never be trimmed because it is a gift from God. Chahal usually ties his hair in a bun and covers it with a turban, as is the custom among Sikhs.
According to the Guinness World Records website, fellow Indian Nilanshi Patel has brown hair that is 200 cm (6 ft 6 in) long. In 2021, she took the plunge and chopped her hair, giving it to a museum.
